This is one of the greatest survival stories of all time. It’s about a group of young men who managed to survive for 72 day at an altitude of 4000 metres, in the heart of the Andes, after their plane had crashed there in October 1972. The sixteen survivors tell their story as never before.
As a filmmaker and childhood friend of several of them, Gonzalo Arijon had undertaken the task of making an in-depth documentary film – something never before attempted – with the hole group of survivors.
But beyond this “unbelievable story of cannibalism” the film attempts to bring out the very essence of this experience, one both intensely intimate and wholly collective, a strong parable on the human condition.

Esta es una de las historias de sobrevivencia más increíbles de todos los tiempos. Se trata de un grupo de jóvenes uruguayos que sobrevivieron 72 días a 4.000 m. de altitude en el corazón de los Andes, despues que su avión se estrellara en octubre de 1972. Los dieciseis sobrevivientes cuentan su historia como nunca antes.

Como cineasta y amigo de la infancia de muchos de ellos, Gonzalo Arijón tomo la tarea de hacer un profundo documental, algo nunca hecho, con todo el grupo de sobrevivientes.
Mas allá de esta “inaudita historia de canibalismo”, el film trata de captar la esencia misma de esta experiencia, a la vez íntima y a la vez colectiva. Una poderosa parábola sobre la condición humana.
